But for real though, all day I have just kept refreshing ebay to look at straights that were ending soon. Some of these that I bought didn't even have very good pictures, but were also very cheap, so I'm a gambling man. But i'm afraid i'm getting some bad SRAD and flea bay specials aren't helping the cause.

Its bad, I don't even recall everything I bought. This week is going to be filled with surprises and me saying "oh yeah I forgot about this one."
I feel for you. I sure hope some turn into unexpected jewels in the rough. You may need to dust off your Dremel and collection of sandpaper for a little restoration! I'm avoiding it as long as I can. I still only have 2 straights.
I was there with ebay a couple of months ago, then I made a mistake or two.. or three. The bad deals made the good deals normal deals, and the pile of razors was ridiculous. I just stepped back and realized that I needed to stop. Now I just don't look (much). Until I get a few restores under my belt and thin down what I have, AND learn to hone and get better at shaving with them, I'm not allowing myself to get anymore straight razors, so I just don't look. I wish I'd have stopped a little sooner, but it's all good. Another thing that helped me stop was looking out in the real world for them. The eight I bought at a swap meet were WAY better deals than anything on ebay, so I'm going to try and stick to finds in the wild. I'm sure I'll buy more razors on ebay, but I'll never let myself get to that "refresh" stage again.. and yeah.. the "oh yeah.. forgot about that one" stage.. too scary! Good luck!

Im i the same boat. My watch list is ridiculous and if someone were to see it they would probably think I'm obsessed. Plus I just found out that you can save searches and a little mark shows up next to the search when there are new items. I've been straight shaving for about 8 months and already bought 6 razors and 5 stones off the bay but i think ill calm down now and work with what i've got.

I do find ebay sellers really humorous sometimes though. Like this one auction for just a run of the mill ball ended tech in pretty poor condition, no box - $150. The description says "Neat - this razor caused a major uproar in bidding. Brass? it feels so lovely to me... Fast shipping and free gift" Well its worth it for the free gift...
Or another favorite of mine are the ones that say "Rare awesome shave ready straight chopper L@@K!" when in reality its just a hollow ground and it has so many chips in it that I'd rather use it to saw wood. Buy it now -$100

Yeah, seems anything over 5/8 is a "meat chopper!!" That term drives me nuts. Lol!
I know what you mean. I favor big sheffield wedges and got lucky few times but most of the time I have to ask the size, because they throw "chopper" around on everything they have. Now I even find myself trying to identify random stones through blurry pictures.
