Futur or slant or open comb

Hi, I have a Gil Sam that I am currently using. I adjust the slim higher for each of my 3 passes. I start at 3 or 4 , then 5/6, and well you get the idea. I seem to have to buff on touch up pass numerous times in same area (neck and chin). I have a Futur and even set on 1 it has a higher blade gap than 1-8 on slim. If I used the Futur with guillotine stroke and other advanced tech. (J-hooking, etc.) can I get more on 1st 3 passes so I don't have to do as much buffing on touch up. These areas get irritated with too much buffing. I believe the Futur is considered an aggressive razor.

The other question is should I consider a more aggressive razor such as a slant or oc? I have a heavy, coarse beard with sensitive skin. Currently, I am using a persona red blade.

I'm surprised that with a heavy beard you have so much technical work to do to get a close shave. Typically that kind of beard soaks up water easily and shaves with much less effort than wiry beards.

Sensitive skin refers to the skin's quick reaction to many chemicals. Again, not sure how the shave is affected.

Finally, I'd think an "aggressive" razor would be perfect for all beard types including yours. I find them the easiest to shave with, to get BBS without irritation. I'm not a huge fan of my Hoffritz slant but it does the job quite efficiently without having to worry about multiple-pass touchups that often lead to irritation. Those so-called "mild" razors are dangerous IMO!

Recently I have found that mild is actually much better for my skin. Aggressive isn't always better. Same results but Mild razors feel smoother for me.

A slant should solve your problem if you have to go through this many gymnastics to get a good shave.

I have to get me a slant.

My beard is reddish in color, and wiry wiry wiry.

It curls and grows every which way.

I always hated shaving, because to get a close shave I have typically had to shave with the grain, against the grain, across the grain, and diagonally. And a few other ways.

I found this site and have started on this DE shaving thing, and am concluding that I need to try a slant.

Another slant vote. It's just a very efficient razor. And not agressive in thr traditional sense. That being said do you need to work so hard to get bbs or "just" a dfs. You maybe spending too much effort chasing the holy grail of bbs and irritating your skin along the way.

I would try either the open comb or the slant, and then the other. :001_tongu

I went from Slant to open comb and am delighted with open combs.
