What's new

full pockets

OK, so for casusal wear I've been wearing khakis for about 20 years now. I'm getting tired of them and have branched out into a pair of nice jeans and some nicer trousers

With the khakis, the keys, cell phone, handkerchief, and wallet bulge weren't that big deal. With the other pants, they're all really noticeable. So, assuming you're not wearing a blazer to put some things in the inner breast pockets, where do you stash your gear? Any special items you recommend? A smaller wallet and money clip? I'll pretty much consider anything other than a phone case that clips onto my belt.

Thanks.

I would say that the wallet is something that should be cleaned out regularly and keep an extra one at home. The wallet at home should store receipts that you want to keep (major purchases and such) as well as all the cards you don't use on a regular basis. I tend to keep only a drivers license, credit card, and atm card in my wallet as well as some cash. It keeps the clutter down big time. The same can be said about the keys. Have a specific place for non-essential keys (like next to the wallet with non-essential cards and receipts). As for the handkerchief, fold it nicely when done using it instead of cramming it in your pocket. That should leave enough room.

Worst case, make the pockets deeper. Nobody is going to see the insides of your pockets and if another inch or two helps, why not?

Metrosexuality is such a slippery slope. Starts out with the better pants and then suddenly you need a man bag. Before you know it you'll be getting your chest waxed. :tongue_sm

I've taken to carrying a messenger bag lately. Not a manpurse, but a tasteful black one from Tumi. I can keep a file or two, my iPad and keyboard and offload a few bulky items like my sunglasses in their case. It's a little more hassle, but it looks professional and I'm getting used to having it.

Carry a handbag. Anything you sling over your shoulder will immediately get scoffed at as a "manbag." But a laptop sized bag with no shoulder strap, and only a handle is pretty manly in my book. I like to think it makes me look somewhat important heh, and I don't have to worry about a phone, an itouch, and glasses in my jeans.

EDIT: Mine is a Kenneth Cole. All italian leather...got it at a marshall's for 40 bucks, check around stores like that for one.

1. Wallet in back pocket
2. Mobile Phone in one front pocket
3. Keys in another pocket or carry them.

This is all I carry and I have never had any trouble. But when I shop for wallets, phones etc. I purposely choose products that are slim, to minimize any issues.

Or just dump it all in your wifes handbag!

I feel ya.

wallet, keys, pocket knife, phone, flashlight, pen, change. I've just learned to live with it.

I should mention before I started carrying a bag, in an effort to minimize the amount of stuff in my pockets, I bought this thing in the knife aisle at the home depot. It's a locking carabiner that I hang my keys from, it has a utility blade build into the handle, (not exactly a looker, but equally as functional as a nice pocket knife.) It also has 3 low profile attachments on it, a small led flashlight, and philips and flathead screwdrivers. After I picked up that sucker I was down to a wallet in the back pocket, my unobtrusive cell phone in one pocket, and my money and some change in the other.

In my front left pocket I carry my key wallet. In my front right pocket I carry my coin purse and hankerchief. I carry my wallet in my right rear pocket. My mobile phone is kept in a leather pouch that clips onto my belt. I don't think that anything looks to bulge out too much.

Get another wallet, or more like a card holder is the first thing you should do. Choose one with preferable about three "pockets" to have your ID/License, your credit card and one or two more cards, not more. You just don't need 10 cards from different stores, you will be surprised about how small the actual profit are. The cards you do need for some reason can you stuff in your old pocket and carry with you when you need them. For the notes/bills a money clip is great and the coins fit just right in the pocket. The wallet and money clip should be warn in a pocket in your jacket/coat, same thing for the cellphone and keys.

You mean I wasn't supposed to start with this?

Well played, that man!

I am one of those who carries a messenger bag daily. IPod, pens, notebook, often my DSLR camera, keys, pocketknife etc Much easier to me than trying to fit everything into my pockets.

This is beyond impressive. You are the king of the over-prepared.
