Fudged it

I think I may of Fudged it:confused1 as now after reading lots of reviews I may have brought a duff or maybe something that won't suit..... I put some cash aside (normally the kids clean me out) to buy my 1st and only razor(as don't like buying things for me would prefer to spend it on the kids) and all the bits that go with a razor ie: MÜHLE™ pure Badge hair brush plus stand, 2 packs of blades 1 pack of Merkur Super Platinum™ and 1 pack of Personna Platinum™ and a present from the wife penhaligon's English Fern Shaving Soap with Bowl™ and last of all Merkur Futur Matt Chrome DE Safety Razor™ and a Merkur Black Leather Sheath™ to keep it looking its best  and bowl (cheap little white one from the supermarket cost a £1) for trying to get that creamy lather. All told spent around £120:w00t::w00t: and now starting to regret my choice... as sort of went about this a little blind and did not find this site until after buying everything... I know everyone's choice is different and what some like may not suit other's.:blushing:
But I looked at this like a investment and something I would have for years and remembered my Uncles razor and how he taught how to shave with it and said if I could master that I would never have any bother shaving (he was right:thumbup:) I wish I could remember what brand it was but that was a while ago now (38 years old:lol:) anyway while reading through this site and other sites I'm sure that I have ™cocked up™ as other member's say what a animal it is but the most worrying for me is the questionable build quality of the Merkur™ as I don't have cash to waste.
So today tried in vain to cancel the order as the only item outstanding is the razor and as nice as the guy who owns the store is it is a business at the end of the day and I have already sent a Merkur™ 23C back as it did not feel right in my hand and he does not have a returns policy for now I have ordered it I don't like it.
So I am left feeling a bit of a heal :blushing: and wishing I had never walked this path

You're not the first guy around here to feel the harsh sting of buyer's remorse, but the B/S/T is your saving grace. Do a little research to see what you do want and then put your unwanted items up on for sale or trade (once you up your post count).

Agree with Jopo. Sell the razor in the B/S/T forum and get yourself something really simple like a Gillette Tech (3-piece razor) or a Superspeed (twist-to-open razor), and get started. No need to feel that the other stuff was a waste; you just have to learn how to use them and you can get outstanding shaves.

Thanks for the advice but thats what I mean its bit of a waste as you can not charge someone full whack for a razor even if it unused. And its not like I can go to a shop and check out different razors to see how the feel as there is nothing close I have looked. And also being a little green I have to look at websites and take it from there... Also I do not know of anyone in my circle of friends who use a safety razor as when I talked about it the other day most of them said you must be mad to try something like that (starting to think they may have been right)

Razors come and go, but the memories last forever.
The worst part about this shaving adventure is the cost.
I've invested far more that I care to and now I'm selling off the excess.
The Futur is my daily razor (though I just switched to the Fat Boy yesterday).
Once you find your razor and blade combination that makes you happy, you'll end up spending too much on soaps and creams.
If you can hit your "golden recipe" for a great shave early enough, then you might escape with a few dollars in your pocket. Otherwise it'll be a long, yet fun journey.

Make use of the BST. In my opinion, they don't make razors like they used to.
Good luck and keep us informed.

I've had that happen to me a couple of times, but it is what it is. Gotta agree with the put it on B/S/T. That's what I did. Yeah you might loose a couple of busks, but it won't hurt too much as the stuff is just a shade off of being brand new. You'll never really be hurt bad by doing this. Its kind of a good way to buy more things.

Look at the reviews for stuff you think you'd like and then jump in. Good luck. :thumbup1:

so do you think I should have go the vintage route then (bit late now can't spend any thing else) I'm like a two legged man in one legged man arse kicking comp. I would slap my self if I could....

Don't believe the hype - Merkurs are good razors and for the most part the company stands behind them. Yes, there are some reports of duff razors but they're pretty rare considering how many people use Merkurs - you remember the one guy on the internet complaining, but not the thousands of satisfied customers who don't say anything.

Odds are highly in your favour in this case.
