Frictionite 00

Just acquired a frictionite 00 off the bay. I cleaned it up with some soap and touched up my regular griffon on it. Count me impressed. It brought the shaving edge back. I dont think I am ever selling or trading it away. It has the original sticker and looks to be in good condition too. The size is just perfect for travel.

Does anyone else have this hone and what has their experience been with it?

What is the best way to clean this hone? It has some dirt on it from general neglect by the previous owner. From what I have read you could get a 'mini' fricitionite that could be used to clean the larger, but mine didn't come with one. I'm thinking of giving it a good rubbing with scotch brite when I get home tonight. Is this ok?

I use scotch brite to clean my DMT, so it should work. You could also lap it.

Those Frictonite 00's are supposed to be amazing for finishing blades. Congrats.

Thanks. A couple more questions:
1. Should this be used wet or dry?
2. What is the recommended honing stroke count for either side?

I don't use any hones dry, but maybe that's just me.

Stroke count depends on what your razor is like before you start; there is no way to advise numbers. You have to try and then shave and try and shave and see what you need.
