French LeResche DE

I know these French DEs appear here now & then, but I've never seen or owned one which looks mint and has this classy leather case. Fits the usual DE blades but is definitely not a Gillette-made razor. The handle seems to be nickel over aluminum and the quality is quite high. Anyone know the year of these brand?

Yes -- I wish Gillette had made cases like this one. Wonder what it cost to buy when originally offered...

The blade gap is similar to a Rocket HD -- so smooth and not too aggressive. The open comb teeth look to be more sharp than they are. The razor shaves quite well and I will this style were still in production -- to share the enjoyment...

That is something else Jake. Well cared for, kept in the box and the box kept in a drawer.

I think the type of material used in these cases weren't particularly robust for withstanding the sun, but were optimized for beauty.

The set I own was left open against a wall. What must of been a beautiful red is sort of pinkish and brown now. The back and bottom are original color, as is underneath the cardboard blade cases. Hard to display that!

No idea about the date, they sure look like Old Types. But are you certain that it's nickel on aluminum? I'm pretty sure mine is silver, I could have sworn that the aluminum foil/baking soda method cleaned it up. Could be very wrong about that though.

You might be right about the razor being silver. I was basing my opinion on the weight of the razor. But I did not actually weigh it on a scale. And it is so bright and shiny now -- with no silver tarnish -- I thought it was nickel.

Thanks for your comments!
