I used my Slim Adjustable for the first time today with a Crystal IP blade (also for the first time). I used my Simpson Chubby 2 Two Band for the first time as well today with Tabac Shaving Soap
wait for it
almost there
FOR THE FIRST TIME.
The brush was really dense. It feels less like a brush and more like a massage. Really nice!! Unfortunately, I think I shook it out too much and didnt load it up enough because the lather was just awful. It was almost dry. I need to figure that combo out a bit better and being a bit rushed this morning didnt help.
I set the adjustable at 4. I think that was a little too aggressive for me, at least for a first try with a blade I hadnt tried before. Additionally, the Crystal blade didnt seem all that sharp against my thick stubble. Bummer.
It may have been the perfect storm here: lather that wasnt slick, new blade, new brush with wrong amount of water and a new razor at a bad setting; but today was my worst shave ever from a comfort standpoint. No nicks or weepers, but a face like when I splashed on the Clubman this morning.
The lesson? "Carlos, dont try too many things at once and remember YOURE A NOOB!!"
