For the DE shavers on a budget

I am a 17 year old high school student that is currently unemployed (I work summers as a lifeguard/swim lesson instructor but during the school year due to track/xc I remain jobless), so I shave on a budget. I wanted to get into tradiontal wet shaving with a DE razor so I did some browsing. I ended up buying this http://www.amazon.com/Silver-Double...=UTF8&qid=1357794633&sr=8-5&keywords=de+razor DE razor for $3!!!! It took awhile to come in, but boy does it shave good! I was expecting a super cheap, fall apart razor, but no no that's not the deal here. It's a solid, classic 3-piece. I have had my most comfortable neck shaves I have ever got with this razor in my life (I have a super sensitive neck and every shave before this razor left me with horrible burn, ingrown, etc) and this razor is just outstanding. So, if your looking for a new one or looking to start out, this is a great razor. Cheap, while being a solid razor.

Yep, it's an awesome razor for the price! Leisureguy over on reddit recommends it highly. I own one myself, and struggled a little at first, but when I got used to it it turned out to be an awesome razor!

Thanks for the link.

Welcom to B&B.

A few questions:

how heavy is it?

how's the finish/quality, and the aggressiveness of it?

Welcome! It's a nice find but I'd recommend the Lord L6 within that price range. The one you mentioned has a sold handle and the head feels similar to a tech but leaves a lot to be desired. However, I do see it as a good way to start and in fact I've given out a few of these to friends.

I qwn one myself. My other razor is a Gillette Adjustable from the seventies. I think the Ri Mei Silvertone is a better shaver than the adjustable.

+1 on what krona said.

i received a Lord razor from a member in this forum (thanks again btw) and i get awesome shaves out of it.

Great story man! I too can relate to many of the things you said. I'm an 18-year-old High School Senior also unemployed. Got myself a sweet '60 Gillette SS Flair tip on eBay a month or so back for around $25. My advice is to definitely keep an eye on the 'Bay and always reply to the frequent PIF's that often take place around here. So far I haven't been lucky enough to win one, but all you can do is keep trying my friend. Best of luck to you.
