What's new

For fans of Allen Edmonds

A couple of interesting articles/threads that I ran across when looking into their shoes. Living in the US, I am happy to buy from a US manufacturer, but I was a little surprised to see how small the company actually is (415 employees). And when buying a pair of their shoes I was surprised to see they are made of imported leather, since the US must have 100K+ head of cattle???. When I thought about it, I assumed the leather importation was mostly because of the labor (safety regulations?) involved with the tanning process, but I have no actual understanding of that or the leather producing industry.

In depth business article: Allen Edmonds 'recrafts' its business model

ALL the leather being imported ?...HORWEEN is in Chicago and is recognized as the worlds best
Cordovan and I have a pair of AE made of Chromaexcel from them. Many tanneries were put out of business here because of
tough environmental laws....At least that's what they said in a video I saw about HORWEEN and their leather....I think it was
an ALDEN video.
