So, a couple of weeks back, I was reading a DRH Arlington thread and it made me wonder why I ever sold off my puck a couple of years ago, which I think it was around the time when MWF pretty much took over my rotation at which point, I went from ~22 soap rotation to MWF and Speick stick. In 2012, Mike's pine/cedar joined the rotation in addition to my AOS unscented tallow, which only gets used once every couple of months as there is only half a puck remaining.
So anyhow, I jumped online to order a puck of DRH my Arlington and then I read the description of DRH Windsor and really liked the sound of it and the reviews were positive so I added a puck to my order.
Fast forward to a couple of days ago and I received my order. I ripped open the packaging and took a big sniff of the Arlington...YUP!...that's the stuff!!!
I can't believe I haven't had this soap in my rotation for the last 2 years! The scent is probably my #1 favourite scent out of the ~30 soaps I have used. It starts off with a mild citrus scent which is very refreshing and then the beautiful fern comes through. This scent is really perfect for all year because of the citrus for the warmer months and the slightly darker fern for the cooler months.
I could already smell the Windsor without opening it's box. The scent is much stronger off the puck compared to the Arlington but the Windsor scent is also extremely pleasing! It's a tad bit more cologne like compared to Arlington but once lathered up, it's nice and mild and really, really pleasant! It's fairly difficult to describe the scent because it's not as "seperated" as the Arlington's citrus/fern but trust me, it is a fantastic scent!
The lather from both pucks didn't disappoint either. My usual 10 seconds load time with my 18mm TGN 2 band finest and I had enough lather for 3 passes. It was thick, slick and quite silky (and it's this silky texture that differentiates tallow from non-tallow soaps for me).
The shaves were fantastic and the scents make the process very enjoyable. Both Arlington and Windsor are now part of my permanent rotation and it will be a treat each time I use either of them.
