What's new

Following a 2 year absence, DR Harris is back in my rotation!

So, a couple of weeks back, I was reading a DRH Arlington thread and it made me wonder why I ever sold off my puck a couple of years ago, which I think it was around the time when MWF pretty much took over my rotation at which point, I went from ~22 soap rotation to MWF and Speick stick. In 2012, Mike's pine/cedar joined the rotation in addition to my AOS unscented tallow, which only gets used once every couple of months as there is only half a puck remaining.

So anyhow, I jumped online to order a puck of DRH my Arlington and then I read the description of DRH Windsor and really liked the sound of it and the reviews were positive so I added a puck to my order.

Fast forward to a couple of days ago and I received my order. I ripped open the packaging and took a big sniff of the Arlington...YUP!...that's the stuff!!!
I can't believe I haven't had this soap in my rotation for the last 2 years! The scent is probably my #1 favourite scent out of the ~30 soaps I have used. It starts off with a mild citrus scent which is very refreshing and then the beautiful fern comes through. This scent is really perfect for all year because of the citrus for the warmer months and the slightly darker fern for the cooler months.

I could already smell the Windsor without opening it's box. The scent is much stronger off the puck compared to the Arlington but the Windsor scent is also extremely pleasing! It's a tad bit more cologne like compared to Arlington but once lathered up, it's nice and mild and really, really pleasant! It's fairly difficult to describe the scent because it's not as "seperated" as the Arlington's citrus/fern but trust me, it is a fantastic scent!

The lather from both pucks didn't disappoint either. My usual 10 seconds load time with my 18mm TGN 2 band finest and I had enough lather for 3 passes. It was thick, slick and quite silky (and it's this silky texture that differentiates tallow from non-tallow soaps for me).

The shaves were fantastic and the scents make the process very enjoyable. Both Arlington and Windsor are now part of my permanent rotation and it will be a treat each time I use either of them.

Every once in a while I "rediscover" Arlington and wonder why I haven't used it more often. It's really hard to work in all the great soaps and scents that are available. There's probably something out there I haven't tried that will become a favorite the first time I use it.

I love Harris soaps, too. I have Arlington, Almond, Lavender, and Windsor right now and love them all.

I also have Arlington and Windsor. I absolutely love Windsor and it may be my favorite soap smell that I own. I am still figuring out whether I like Arlington or not. It seems a bit sweet for me. I think I would have preferred Almond or even Lavender.

I just picked up my first puck of Windsor at Pasteur's and all I can say is WOW!!! Phenomenal soap. Right up there with Tabac and Cella. I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised by this product. It's definitely a staple in my rotation from this point forward.

Love Marlborough, but Arlington and Windsor are too sweet for my taste.

Windsor is sweet to you? I don't find a hint of sweetness in Windsor, just pepper/leather. Arlington is very sweet to my nose and I haven't tried Marlborough before, but I'd like to try that someday.

I have the Arlington and Windsor. Great scents. I even bought the Windsor EDT. I get a lot of compliments on it. It's got an old school manly smell and it has amazing longevity.

I went back to Arlington about a week ago, with the intent to use it until it's gone. Prior to last week I had only used it twice in the past year. Too many soaps in the drawer.

I got Windsor first and got to love it--scent and performance--that I bought the aftershave and cologne. I've picked up both Arlington and Marlborough recently because wcs had them as their deal of the day. I don't think i'll get the a/s or cologne for either or those guys, but I've used both and like the scents and love the performance. if I had nothing but dr harris soaps, I'd be a happy face-lathering fool (of course, there are tons of other great soaps out there, so they'll have to wait their turn). you can't go wrong.

Just took advantage of WCS' free shipping offer and picked up a puck of Arlington and Windsor. Wanted to grab some Lavender too but it is OOS. Oh well, maybe next time.

Arlington is just about my favorite scent from among well over 30 soaps or creams I''ve used. Some day I'm going to have to pick up a sample of Windsor to see if I should eventually buy another puck of Arlington, or buy a puck of Windsor to replace teh Arlington.

Love the Marlborough. Finished with the aftershave, I don't think anything else smells quite like it. Very masculine as well as not sweeping everyone around you into a big, offensive scent cloud like so many of the 'designer' fragrances do.

Well, I thought I had every DR harris soap until this thread. Didnt realize they made Windsor, so I had to order a refill from WCS.

Dr harris is one of my favorite brands soap. ALWAYS a GREAT shave! Thanks!

D.R. Harris' Windsor is my "main" soap. I suspect it always will be - no matter how many other soaps I try, the one that is the buffer between them is my trusty Windsor. I'm glad to see you've put some Harris back into your rotation! Enjoy.

Another super fantastic with the Arlington today! I just love it! The entire experience from the scent to the shave to the post shave feel is all great!!

I used the Windsor yesterday. It is such a unique and pleasing scent. I just love it!

@ Jazzguy...I regret not getting the marlborough. I'm not a huge fan of dark, woodsy scents but I've read so many positive comments on it, I really should have ordered it. When I need more stuff, I'll throw in a puck of the marlborough next time.
