Fix it ot forget it

This is my Goodwill and it was my first razor, the one that started it all for me. This is aimed at the guys who like a fixer upper...

The upper part of the handle (female thread) has come out. How can i fix this?

Also the head has lost all of its plating due to me trying to polish it. Is it worth fixing?

Lastly the handle body has a couple hairline cracks. Can these be fixed? Filled and replated?

Thanks for the advice in advance!

I'd put a screw on the other side of the knob and fill the handle with epoxy. The epoxy will seize around the screw and the knob will be stuck forever.

Just glue it in place with some epoxy, no screw needed. If you like heavier handles though you can cut a threaded rod (M8 or imperial equivalent) to length in order to fill the void of the handle before gluing back the head piece. Worked a treat with one of my ball end handles.

Yeah. This is common. The handle itself is cracked so it doesn't hold the ferrel tightly any more.

Probably no more than 10-20% of the survivors are not cracked by now. And if the crack is at that end then that end comes loose. If its the ball end the bottom cap come loose.

I'm scheming to find a way to close the gap in the crack with a hose clamp then sweat the thing into a single unit. I haven't tried it yet. And I might destroy it in the process. But a Bulldog handle fits fine.

On second thought, it's ruined. Better send it to me to dispose of it for you.
