First time using Proraso...

Over the past few days I learned that I work a few blocks away from Atlanta Barber Supply... As I stated in another forum... GREAT for my face.. not so good for the wallet! LOL

So yesterday I strolled over to get a few aftershaves I have not been able to find. It was a great trip NICE people, FANTASTIC selection and all local! On my way out I noticed they had Proraso shaving creams (in the tubes).... well, they had the little "jars" too. I need to see if they have their aftershaves!

Anyway, I had read so much about Proraso here that I thought I would go back to the counter and make another purchase. So I got a tube of the Sandal Wood cream.

I have always used soaps so this was a bit of a new experience. Boy-o the lather is EXCELLENT with the creams. So silky and thick. Now I didnt use a mug or "mixing bowl" I just put some on my face and worked it in with my brush. That technique seemed to work very well.

The scent was just fantastic. Stronger than most soaps I have used. The lather was excellent and made for a very comfortable shave.

So help this old soap user understand the creams... Is there a disadvantage to the way I applied the cream? (Right onto my face... and then working it up with the brush)?

Anyway, I really enjoyed the cream... as a newbie to DE shaving but a soap and brush veteran, this cream was a very nice find!

!

Typically I will bowl lather creams with a softer brush but I have face lathered by applying cream directly to the face as you did.

Either method will work fine

On the odd occasion I use a cream, I apply the cream to a damp brush and then face lather. Whether you apply the cream to the brush or directly to the face is merely a matter of preference. The outcome should be the same.

I usually use soaps (even back when I used carts). I recently picked up some CO Bigelow green. I squeeze some in my hand & work my wet brush in enough to get most of it, then move to my face to really build up lather. I'm still working on having it stay wet long enough to get through a full pass, but I've only used it 3 times so far.

Gentlemen on this forum have a way with words- everything I wanted to say has already been said, and more- so I will only just need to say "+1" :001_tongu
