First Shave with a Slim

Greetings - my first post here.

My slim arrived via ebay yesterday, and had my first shave with it this morning, my normal three passes. Was very impressed! Set it on a three for the first shave to see how it went, Thought at that setting it was a lot less agressive than my Jagger DL89.

Is that others experinece?

Think I will have to move it up a notch or two tommorow. Looking forward to it.

Love my slim. I set mine to 3 as well, and may keep it there. It is less aggressive than my merkur 3 piece for sure. Not as close, but my neck isn't raw either. I may try a 4 or 5 to see if it gets closer without irritation, but a 3 is quite enjoyable.

The Slim is as versatile as it gets. Leave at a setting and go or adjust with each pass. I like to start at 6, go down to 4, and finish at 2. Very comfortable shaves that way.

Slim is one of the Best, Smoothest, Most Comfortable Shavers they ever made IMOH . The Slim out preforms Many Modern and Vintage Razors, and the Balance is Perfect because of its long Handle, and the fact that its Solid Brass.

Dont sleep on the slim he is a Humble Tough Guy :wink2:

i had my first shave with my '61 slim this morning, i set it on 4, it was a smooth shave but not as aggressive as my merkur 34c.

the next shave i'm going to have it on 5 or 6 to see if i can get something similar to the 34c.

Update - Had my second shave with the slim this morning. Three passes, started on 5, then 4, lastly on 3. Worked really well for me. A fantastic shave!!

Having used both, the Slim and the 195 Adjustable produce the same results on my face, in the same amount of time, with the same level of effort. The balance between the two favors the Slim, with the Fat Boy being slightly "head light" for my taste. I still can't reconcile the oddly disparate recollection of a borrowed Fat Boy back in the 1970s being "short" like a Super Speed.

The Slim was my first real success with DEs, and followed my start in shaving by a dozen years. I hadn't ever known that Fat Boys even existed, missed seeing them while using Injectors and electrics, until that borrowed razor, whenever in the 1970s that was (and I have lost track of Glen, since he and my sister divorced, and thus cannot ask if he remembers what razor he had back then).
