I have been wanting to try a slant for a while now as I seem to prefer more aggressive razors. I have tried several open combs, a multitude of vintage gillettes (adjustable and non-adjustable), and my trusty Merkur HD in my process of learning and trying out new razors. I was getting the best results from the HD and the Merkur 11C so I figured I would try out the 37C as it had the same handle as them. I keep reading on here about the magic of the slant for some of you and it peaked my curiosity, unfortunately it seemed that most vendors were out of stock on the 37C and I kept missing them on the BST.
Finally, WCS got them in and I immeadiately ordered one up along with some other goodies. It arrived today and I decided to give it a go on my two day growth. Loaded it up with a Shark SC, lathered up some Trumpers coconut soap with a brand new Omega 31064, and went at it. I was pleasantly suprised as I had been dreading a possible face-tearing and bloodletting experience. This thing just glided effortlessly through the thick stubble like a hot knife through butter! Rest of the shave went very smoothly as well and ended up with a DFS with very little effort.
I think I need a little time to get used to this razor, it seems to work better with longer strokes and absolutely NO pressure. I had a little trouble finding the stroke and angle around the jawline but that seems to be trouble spot no matter what I shave with as I have a very sharp jawline. Also, I seemed to get a little irritation but it is in spots where I know my mind wandered a little bit and I put a little pressure on the razor head. All in all I think the slant is definitely a keeper for me and seems to be the tool to take down a day or two worth of stubble.
