First Shave w/Crystal

I'm working my way through a sample pack from West Coast Shaving. I tried a Crystal today. Nice shave, no pulling or tugging. I think I got a bit closer shave with a Derby, but I'll see how the Crystal treats me over the next couple of shaves. I was using a 1904 open comb.

I used the Crystal again today and got one of my best shaves. Although it is hard to say whether I like these, the Derbies or the Personnas the best since my technique is developing. I've been keeping notes and will have to come back around to try them again after I've been through the whole sample pack.

I'm working my way through an assortment of blades right now and used a Crystal for the first time this morning. I had tried Merkur and Derby for the last several weeks and was beginning to think that I couldn't tell much difference between blades. The Crystal's were much different. A much louder sound as I shaved my whiskers and slightly more pulling than with the other blades. I usually do three passes and don't have much left to cut on the third pass. This morning there was still significant beard left as I started the third pass. But I still had a DFS when I was done. Will be interesting to see how this Crystal does for the next couple of days and if the next blade is similar. I'm shaving with a long handled Merkur Progress.

Interesting. I got a pretty comfortable shave, but the 5 o'clock shadow has popped up sooner than other blades.

For me Crystal is another good blade. Nothing fancy, does what it is supposed to do, without anything extra.

This morning's shave was a replay of yesterday - the blade just doesn't seem to cut as well as the other brands I've tried. Going to put in another Crystal tomorrow morning and see if it's just this blade or not.

I get a great shave from a Crystal - on both my open and closed comb razors. It does take a little longer than when I use a Feather, but it never irritates my skin like the Feather does when I use it for every shave. I do the hand strop thing and it helps, especially with a new blade (other people do the corking). If you have a sampler pack, I would set the Crystals aside and come back to them. When you're just starting out, things change week to week as you get better with all areas of wet shaving.

+1. I am pretty new and I have gone back and tried a blade I used in my first week and had a totally different impression the second time around.

I opened up my Progress a notch more than I had before and the Crystal shaved much better this morning. Something about my technique/razor/something just doesn't cut as well with these blades.
