What's new

first real cut

Well, I guess I reached the point of comfort with my shave. I got cut this morning. I have had very minor weepers, but this one was good. Cut on my lip just to the left of my nose. Just a little reminder to slow down and pay attention.

That is all, good afternoon.

Nicks and cuts are shaving's way of telling you to slow down and pay attention.

Shaving cuts usually heal without a mark, unless you really sliced it open.

Well, I guess I reached the point of comfort with my shave. I got cut this morning. I have had very minor weepers, but this one was good. Cut on my lip just to the left of my nose. Just a little reminder to slow down and pay attention. That is all, good afternoon.

I have only cut myself twice that are worth mentioning.
I did a 'Fool's Pass' with a slant bar that was loaded with a Feather blade...my fault. Hung my top lip with all the blade edge that the guard would allow to sink in my top lip. I don't do fool's passes anymore...especially since most of my shaves are with a straight these days.
I have a scar that I hope will smooth over some day by using a hair shaper folding shavette from Sally Beauty Store. I took the guard off and had one of the longer SE Personna blades loaded...virtually the full blade was exposed and I hung myself good just below my bottom lip...probably needed stitches ?

In the end it was a good thing. I am so hard headed that it made me want to use a straight razor even more than ever. I love a challenge, I suppose. So I buy some nice conventional straights, an NOS Kamisori that I had professionally honed, a Japanese style Feather Artist Club...learned how to shave with both hands and have not used a DE since. And I truly loved my slants. I always got my best under the nose shaves with a Schick Krona till I started shaving with straights... which are the best for for shaving those hairs near the nostrils, IMO.
