First Inject shave

I just bought a type L Injector from Slantman on the BST last week and was planning to use it for my first Injector shave. I spent the weekend at the wife's old family cabin and rummaging around the bathroom, I came across a later model Schick Injector with the tennis racquet grip. It was in nice shape with an old blade still in it. The Injector I bought from Slantman was waiting for me when I got home - that razor is mint! Thanks Slantman! I had ordered some Ted Pella blades last week that have not arrived yet, but having a 3 day beard, my first Injector shave was in order. I popped out to Rite Aid and bought the Rite Aid branded blades. I assume they are Personnas but there was nary a mark on them other than the Rite Aid one. 15 platinum coated stainless blades in a plastic case with the metal key, push/pull thing for $7.

I gave the Schick every advantage in the world. Nice, hot shower, Kyle's Prep with D.R. Harris Arlington (old formula) and a Savile Row 3118. And the verdict? Freaking awesome and effortless. I was initially worried about the angle - pffft, the thing sets itself. It honestly felt like I was shaving with a cartridge - same small head and shape like a Sensor. Easy, easy easy to manuever, and it mowed down 3 days growth like nothing. No nicks, no sting from the alum, and smooth as glass. Even my trouble spots. Feeling nostalgic, I even wrapped up the shave with some Aqua Velva. Dang, I might be converted.

EDIT: And, dangit, I can't change the post title.:letterk1:

I think injectors are awesome. If I can't go with the straight I reach for the hydro-matic. Excellent shave every time. I turned my son on to on too.

I am not familiar at all with the Hydromatics. In fact, my knowledge of Schick and most other SE razors is pretty limited. I went from a Sensor to DEs and the occasional straight, but this was my first try with a Schick.

Hi Dennis,

I knew you would like the type L. These injectors shave fantastic. I have a 1939 Schick and although the blade appears to have a huge exposure I get absolutely no cuts and zero irritation. I recently contacted Schick asking them to start making injectors again and of course got the most bogus answer you can imagine. They actually told me to check on eBay for an old one.

Good luck,
Jerry

While most of the fantasy posts are about Gillette making new DE razors, it is actually Schick that would have the best chance of succeeding with a reintroduction of the Injector razor.

I have an injector that I use for my sideburns and under my nose sometimes, but I have yet to get a good shave out of it. I just can't find good, SHARP blades for it - everything I've used has felt dull to me. Very frustrating, too, because I like the concept a LOT.

Are there any good blades out there at all?
