After a reasonable wait, I've just received my first Edison. It was a pleasure to deal with Brian Gray, and even with the hectic schedule around the LA Pen Show, Brian still managed to get my pen to me ahead of schedule. You'll never hear a bad word about Brian from anyone, so without further ado, on to the pen!
The pen came packaged in a nice, faux alligator presentation box. Stupid me forgot to even take a picture of it. It really is a very attractive case that tells you it holds something a bit special.
I apologize in advance for the crappy lighting as always!
The Glenmont sure makes you aware of it's presence! It's a very stately, eye-catching design that's just striking in the Aim High acrylic color and silver hardware. By the way, I didn't know that the material was actually a little pearlescent, not that I'm complaining or anything. It really adds to the character of this dominating design.
Specs for the pen directly from Edison are:
Total weight posted: 17g
Weight unposted: 10g
Length capped: 5 3/4"
Length uncapped: 4 7/8"
Not a heavy pen by most standards, but the cap : pen ratio means that some may find it unbalanced when posted. I don't really ever post my pens, so this is basically a non-issue for me. However, it's worth considering if you intend on using it capped.
I ordered mine with a medium steel nib for starters, but can easily see going for the gold in the future. I wouldn't call it soft nor hard, so no fears of a nail here. I can't make up my mind as to whether the steel nib makes you covet the gold or just forget about it all together! It's very smooth, though, and an excellent writer. Brian recommended his "standard" flow treatment for my needs, and it's just what I expected. He'll adjust the flow however you'd like whenever you place your order for the pen.
There's really not much else to say considering I've only had the pen for a day now. It's an absolutely gorgeous pen, especially if you love medium blue like I do. I'm afraid my crappy pics don't do the color justice, though, you'll have to order one for yourself
Price really isn't much of an issue. I had planned on buying an Edison for a good while, so I knew what sort of price range I was looking at. After receiving, handling and using the pen, I can't say the price is unfair at all. That's all objective, though, so there's no use even discussing it.
This pen is going to see a LOT of use now, so time will tell what a value it really is!
