First DE shave

Well my Slim Adjustable finally arrived from ebay, $20.00 shipped. This is my first DE razor ever and I was really excited. I didn't feel like waiting so I rushed to Wal-Mart and got those Wilkinson's Sword DE blades for like 2 bucks. I put the blade in and gave myself a shave. I did WTG, ATG, and a last touch up pass. I didn't get any cuts, irritation, or anything. I did manage to get a close shave but it was nowhere near BBS. I got a closer shave with my Atra. Maybe it's my technique, my razor, my cream, but it doesn't matter, I still enjoyed the experience. Next time I'll try and do better. In the future I'm going to order one of those sampler packs from West Coast Shaving, but in the meantime I'll stick with what I got now. I'm gonna practice on my technique.

All in all, not a bad first run haha :thumbup1:

Congrats...it will get better with time...don't worry too much about the BBS right now, just focus on technique.

Welcome to B&B!

You won't get your best shave the first try, there's a little learning curve, but I don't think it's a difficult or long one. I recommend focusing on 1) prep and lather, 2) grain, 3) just enough pressure, and 4) blade angle (25-30degrees).

Welcome and congrats! The shaves will be better as your technique improves but no cuts/irritation is a good start.

You may want to try a Merkur too at some point. I can't really get a BBS shave from vintage Gillettes but the more aggressive Merkurs work great for me with my tough beard.

Welcome to the B & B :shaving: and it sounds like you're off to a great start, but please do take your time because Wet-Shaving is a 'journey' and not a race (oh by the way..I love my Merkurs 23C & 38C).

Also, it might wise to get a Razor Blade Sampler to see what blade is a good fit (sharp, dull, ect...), for your face.

And yes...this Forum has the knowledge, ideas, and alround 'know-how' to assist in your Wet-Shaving experience. In a nut-shell...your 'gonna' love it here :w00t:

Also, once you get time....please tell all of us a little about yourself in the Hall of Fame sub-forum :biggrin1:

Thanks for the welcome, all of you. I will be ordering a sampler pack eventually when I get the time haha. I know that I have to experiment to see what is good for me and what isn't.

Well I don't really have a tough beard haha. I'm only 16 and been shaving for about 8 months. My beard isn't really tough haha but it ain't peach fuzz either!!
