What's new

First BBS Shave.

Well Gents! I have finally got what I was looking for, my BBS face. Tonight, was my greatest shave yet. I have a very smooth face and no irritation whatsoever. I don't think it can get any better than this. Tonight I used; Proraso Pre cream as a "Pre-shave", and I used Proraso "Green Tub", followed up with Nivea Sensitive Skin. I've been wet shaving for two weeks now. My first shave went alright, I had a lot of stubble and quite a bit of razor burn, it was horrible. I shave with a Merkur 180 (Looking to order another razor, need Suggestions). As days gone by, there has been huge improvements. I went through a bunch of blades, but right now my favorite blades are Personnas (Blue box with 25% sharper on the front) and astra Sp's. I still have feathers to try, but I think I will cross that bridge later.

I have eczema that flares up everyone and a while. I only get it under my neck, and this usually happened after I shaved with my mach 3. Since I switched to DE razors, It's just all about gone. I also noticed my skin looks amazing, and most of my acne and facial problems went away. Well I will cut it here, I don't want to make it longer than it already is.

Congratulations! Glad to hear about your skin problems going away. I had issues with ingrowns, but I'm doing a lot better now with a DE razor.

Brandon, well done!

It's astonishing how this style of shaving has so many benefits.

Congrats on your BBS.

Congrats on your first BBS!!

It took me a few shaves to get one. Not only did it feel nice, but like I acomplished something great as well.

For razor recomendations I'd look into getting an Edwin Jagger DE89. Since I've been using it, it has quickly became one of my favorites. Shaves my face well with Astra SP blades.

Congratulations. As far as other razors, I've heard the Edwin Jagger DE89 is good like ksblazer mentioned. Never personally tried it. If I were you, I would buy a nice adjustable razor (like an old Gillette or a newer razor like the Merkur Progress/Futur) and stay on a low setting (#1 or #2) until you feel comfortable. If the shave isn't close enough after several shaves, then you can gradually dial up.

I own the Merkur Futur. It is a pretty good daily shaver. The drawback I don't like much is the head is quite big (can be somewhat cumbersome shaving under the nose). Otherwise, I really like the design of the razor. It has good heft and the adjustable feature goes from a very mild shave to a very close one.

I would stay away from a slant razor until you refine your technique. I bought the Merkur Slant as my second razor and nearly gave up on it. It took a lot of patience to tame it's aggressiveness down and now it is my go-to razor.

Congrats, so glad its working out so well for you. Isn't it amazing how getting back to such a basic way of shaving can have such great results?
