What's new

Finally! My, Kent H8 has arrived

Well after several weeks and various E-mails and on line chats with Amazon which resulted in me canceling my order. Her is my new Kent H8 that was eventually ordered from Kent on Sunday 2nd June and arrived to day 4th June. Specs are 26/55 in Kents Pure Badger. Nice and soft with a good deal of scritch (so far). Not too floopy on the test lathers, a little like my FS in finest. So far so good :biggrin1:

Any the first pic is of the kent from behind showing the horn effect pattern, then bloom after a few hand lathers with, palmolive stick, Tabac stick and Wilkinson sword blue bowl. And finally straight out of the case.

Sencd pic is a comparison againt a Duke 2 best, NF Tubby Two, FS Faux horn and on the end the Kent H8.

The kent feels much softer than this line up and is quite well packed. I'll give her a go in the morning and repost back on she's doing. to say I'm stoked is an under statement. :w00t::w00t::w00t:

All Brit affair for tomorrow. Brit Aristocrat OC #15, Kent H8 & Ingrams SC. Cant wait.

It will quickly make you put all of your other brushes away.

My BK8 is the only brush I own that has a "permanent" place on the counter. All the rest get rotated off to a shelf but the Kent is always there as I use it more than any of my other brushes

I am in complete agreement with Turtle on this one! I love my Kent BK8!!! In fact, just thinking about it has made me decide to go use it now! Enjoy your new Kent! I see many happy lathers in your future.

I couldnt hold out any longer, there was enough of a 5 O'clock shadow to have a go with the H8. I went with the Aristocrat OC and some Erasmic cream. Just a quick sink shave, hot water wash and off I go. Wow! there's some scritch to this one. Almost kinda like a boar but with softness in the hair shafts. The lather was easily whipped up and applied. While not a stand up straight back bone, neither is this brush a 'mop'. It's kinda like my FS Finest but more dense. I face lathered the Erasmic and have NO complaints. The shave was nice and smooth and finished with a big ol glug of Boots Bay Rum. We'll see how I get on tomorrow AM in the shower, thats the usual domain of my shave gear. So far I'm mighty impressed. The one problem I've gotten now is I'm breaking my 10 brush rule. I may have to up the limit as I'm checking out another boar to even the heard up a little :biggrin1:

Very nice comparison ! Congratulations..Hope it serves you well.
How is the FS chubby (presuming you have manchurian silvertip) compared to Duke in Best ? Softness, Scritch/Scrub and Backbone ?
Enjoy ;)

numerounnoo, I have the FS chubby in finest and find it to be a great brush. Not densly packed but better than some Vulfixs' I've had. It has no problems generating lather in the bowl or on the face. Compared to the Duke 2 in best it has more scrtich, more back bone and defo more scrub. While I like the Duke 2 I much prefer the FS. One other thing about the FS is IT HAS YET TO SHED A SINGLE HAIR!!

As for this mornings all Brit afair, simply great. The ingrams burst into lather with little effort. The scritch of the Kent pure is real nice almost like a super, ubber boar if it could be crossed with a silver tip. The Kent needed just a tad more water but it does have a bigger overall splay out at the bristle end than my other brushes. A great lather resulted in a BBS shave, superb. AS I said above it's no mop by far and is definatley a keeper. Even SWMBO said " nice handle" thats worth every penny the Kent cost.
