Feather Portable Problems

I just got my Feather Portable Razor. I dont know what I did wrong, but I installed a Dorce DE blade and assembled the head to the handle. The blade edges are not protruding from the head so I cannot shave. Help! I must be loading it wrong.

Sounds like you might have put the base plate on upside down.

It should just unscrew unless you torqued it but good.

Be careful getting it off.

The feather portable is a fine shaver. My two favorite blades with it are the red pack Israeli personna and the gillette super thin.

Thanks guys. Im new to DE shaving. Bought a Merkur HD last week and just received the feather Portable because I travel a lot international and have had my luggage lost. Hope I can master the art without slitting my throat

Just keep the styptic pencil handy. Most of us made good use of styptic pencils in the beginning. I probably went through at least two of them during the early days of learning.

Here, here! I've only been at this for a month and a half and there are days when I still need to break out the styptic pencil. I bought a big one from the grocery store when I first started and it looks like it'll be enough to last me years.

I had to laugh. My 1st shave with a Muhle R89 was like that.

I was merrily shaving along and thinking "man, what a smooth shave", then discovered that the base plate was upside down.
I am eternally grateful that no one was there to see my embarrassment.
