Feather Double Edge Razor Blades

I've been using a double edged razor since about 2010. Nice, clean shaves. I bought a new Muhle razor...which IMO, is a beautiful shaving tool.

I've tried a number of different makes of blades....got some sample packs when I first started and found that...for me...Feathers were the best...Precision (think that's the name)...were second.

I bought a bunch, but there numbers are slowly dwindling and economically I find it best to buy a good number online.

I used to replace the blades every 3 shaves....but I'm finding they seem to keep on working well....to the point that now I generally shave with the same Feather blade for about 14 shaves, before I discard.

I wonder what other guys find are the shaving life on a Feather blade ? I realize that type of beard, skin, etc....are all factors determining life of a blade.

I use Proraso and Body Shoppe shaving soap, occasionally a spray Gel. Any suggestions for a Gel that won't redden my skin ?

I get about 10-12 shaves from a Feather. I could certainly continue shaving with it past that point (and have for up to about 30 shaves once just to try it), but it's noticeably less sharp after 12 or so, and takes more passes to get a good shave.
