Fauxey Lady

The hand-selected Rooney 1/2 in Faux horn (I didn't even know Fauxes had horns!), which I ordered on Sunday afternoon, arrived today (Tuesday), wonderfully and safely packed. As you can see from the photo below, she is beautiful to behold, right out of the box. I am looking forward to tomorrow morning's 1st of Jularlington shave to break it in.

Thanks to Jim at VintageBladesLLC.com for a great transaction. He even threw in a couple of high end SC samples (Penhaligons and Castle Forbes) for an unexpected treat. Just Exactly Perfect!!

I recently bought a Rooney heritage stubby 2. I'd be curious to know what your experience is with your Rooney 1/2. I find the stubby hogs lather... a lot. I'm interested in whether it'll break in after a while and have better flow through or not.

Jim told me that the Rooney brush is "fantastic right out of the box, but really only reaches its peak performance after two to three weeks of use." I know the heritage series has a higher grade of super than the 1/2, but I imagine the same principle would hold true.

Good luck!

Hmmm. Mine feels great on the face, but it tends to suck the lather up into the brush unless I paint it on. PITA. I'll spend some time with it for a couple more weeks...

Well, there's nothing wrong with painting it on, if that's the way the brush works best. I got a great shave with mine this morning, using Arlington SS. It really lathered up fast, and there was plenty for 3 passes and more to spare.
