Fatip issues

My Fatip Grande arrived yesterday. When I tried to swap handles with my R89, the Muhle handle just slipped over the threaded post of the Fatip. It looks to be about two sizes too small for the Muhle handle. I've read about some folks having problems swapping handles on the Grande, but I thought it was a depth of thread issue with the different handles.
There is another issue with the Fatip cap (threaded post was bent when it arrived), but my question is about the thread-size. Shouldn't it be the larger size?

It's the nickel plated one.
I have contacted the supplier about the bent post, but the Fatip handle threads-on perfectly, so that's not a problem. I was just wondering if anyone else has a non-standard thread on their Grande.

Mine does NOT fit most modern handles. I think this is a known issue, it is not the same threading as the Muhles. It may fit the older Gillette handles.
I am not sure which ones are which but I think the Piccolo fits most standard handles but the Grande may not in some cases. Not sure if its a chrome Vs Nickel issue or what but the threading definitely is different. It will fit some of my french razors and a ball end gillette old type handle. It is not a defect but a thread issue.

The only handle (other then the original) I can get to fit my chrome Grande is Tradere....I have an Ikon Bulldog and it will not fit, but I understand the Weber Bulldog will fit. Does someone have a short list of those that will fit the Grande???

A Joris is on my short wish list.........By the way nice pics!!

Mine is the same, my EJ89 handle slipped rite over the threads on the fatip but my ikon OSS handle goes on loose and nicks up tight. Will have my tradere handle tomorrow so keeping my fingers crossed.

My FaTip Nickel Piccolo fit every handle that I own. My FaTip Chrome Grande only fits a handful of handles; Sabi T3, any Parker 3 piece handle, and a Fat Handled Tech, that is it. It still does not take away from the shave, it is a very close tie between it and my short comb NEW as my favorite razors.

The thread post is narrower than most modern razors, I think.

I bought the piccolo version and I use it with the Tradere handle and it fits fine.

It sounds like there's nothing wrong with the size of the post then. Thanks.

And for the record, I tried the bar handle from my LC NEW, and it slips on/off just like the Muhle handle.
Now to get my other problem resolved, then I can see how it shaves.

Thanks for the input everyone!

There must not be a post standard on the Grande. I wonder if certain years of production have used a smaller post. I bought mine last year when Bullgoose got a limited stock of them. I bet the current production has a larger post. Anyone care to comment. Those with the recent new stock of razors does it fit, and those with the older fatip grandes is it a smaller post?
I think that is the issue.

Thanks. Could you guys post some images of the bottom of the head ? May be, there are some differences depending on when they are made or if it is a Piccolo or Grande ? Maybe the length of the screw ?

I bought a Fatip tip a month ago, or so, and it has the same issue. It's just got a smaller diameter screw than most other razors. Almost all of my other handles are loose on it. My BRW will tighten up sufficiently however.

My fatip nickel played piccolo head would not thread onto my EJ89 handle either. Fit the tradere and weber handles though.

I got the cap issue sorted out. I'll put a Personna Lab in it and give it a go in the morning. Then post a review in Alex's Joris/Fatip thread.
Thanks again for everyone's input.

I think the problem is that this issue is inconsistent and can be related to the type of finish. I have a nickel plated Grande and I swapped the handle for my Ikon Bulldog and it fit perfectly and I have heard others either will or will not fit the Weber handle. It is a shame that it is a bit hit or miss.

I agree with you on the Joris.
