I put my fatboy and my merkur slant up for a shave competition. I found that the fatboy on setting 6 gave a far closer first pass shave than my slant did.

With the slant, I had to make two passes every shave. One with the grain and the second slightly against the grain.

The fatboy.......one pass with the grain and done.

Love my merkur but think im going to use the fatboy as an everyday razor.

Congrats for finding a razor which suits you My experiences with a fatboy are more unsatisfying

Could be my prep at the current time of shaving with that razor, could be technique, or even blade selection, i just know that whenever i use that razor i don't get a nice shave.

Forgive me, I have my fatboy loaded with a feather blade.

The Fatboy's bulkier head design takes some getting used to, but it is a fantastic shave. Set it to 5 or higher for your ATG pass on the cheeks, and enjoy a BBS shave that lasts all day.

Set on 6.....no second pass is needed in my case.

I'd rather take two passes and have a gentler shave than run the risk of ripping myself up and do it in one pass. ymmv. glad it works for you.

Yeah, FB with Feather .... sounds rather unappetizing if it weren't for the fact we're talking about shaving.. I must agree though, that combo is DYNO-MITE!

I too love my Fatboy, and am missing it right now. For some reason it shaves completely different than the Black Beauty I'm using now. I find my Fatboy not to be as aggressive on settings compared to the Black Beauty.
