So, was talking with my dear mother on the phone today and casually mentioned the 1917 Aristocrat I found earlier in the antique store a couple weeks back. She said "Gillette? Your grandma's sister gave me an old Gillette razor that her husband had. He used to work for Gillette."
Needless to say, my ears perked right on up. With me on the phone (drooling) she went to her drawer and pulled out a brand stinking new, never been used, Aristocrat, complete with case, razors... everything. I'm not sure what year it is. I know it's British (made in England, she said) and it looks like a 1953. I've never seen the case, though.
Apparently he left this with his wife before he died, and she gave it to my mom before she passed away. I'm so thrilled to be getting something that's not only a family heirloom, but is a gorgeous razor that I'll use and love, as well. Then, I'll give it to one of my own children, natch. I know, I know. A NOS razor is a terrible thing to waste. But, it makes my heart glad using something that was passed down through the family.
Any help would be great solidifying the year of this beauty!
