That's an interesting idea too, although my first question was more along the lines of hone progression rather than film/paper progression. I've tried CrOx... I rather a little stone brick.

That is the ugliest...

... no wonder these things don't shave well. The blade surface is all pitted and nasty.

The "pitted" area is, I believe the teflon coating, not the blade itself.

Looks roughly like your first attempt on the DMT was finer, before all the edge refinement. I think the black stuff is PTFE, the little bright spots might indicate small pits but there's few.

I'm curious what a Feather AC Pro blade looks like... those things always dragged a lot for me, and cut me something fierce. I attributed it to them not being very smooth, at all.

Did you get the .5 and .1 um diamond film at PSIDragon? I gotta try that stuff. Those edges look amazing. I've been using the Thorlab 1 um with the paper cushion and it works great.

Yeah, 1um on paper gives me a very comfy and sharp edge. Higher than that I don't find to give me that much benefit, but it's kind of fun.

I didn't see what magnification level the pics are at. Are they 100x or 400x?

Can you get bevels like that off of stones?

I've taken razors to ~his 1um image off stones (painfully slow Jnat finisher). Maybe a bit between that and his .5um. But I don't think any stones can touch .1 um. That'd be like 100k grit. Maybe honing on Marble or a glass brick or something like that?

Those are 400x pics unless I'm mistaken.
