Ever Ready G-Bar Deluxe Set?

Hi guys

I'm trying to find a bit of information about the razor below. Unlike Achim's excellent site there doesn't seem to be a great deal of information about Ever Ready and Gem razors.

I think it's a G-Bar Deluxe set but thought I'd pick the brains of the knowledgeable folks on here.

Cheers

Paul

NICE SET!!

It's certainly a G-Bar, but that's as far as I can go with it--and I've never seen a gold G-Bar Nor a boxed set. Online info about most SE razors is very hard to come by, but we've got a few members who are regular razor encyclopedias. Once they see your pictures, I'm sure they'll weigh in--just be patient.

Nice set. Turns the ordinary Gem G Bar into a class act. Are these rare?

I don't know! That's why I thought I'd post it here.

I've got into SE shaving in a big way recently. Really fancy a shovelhead Gem or Ever Ready to compliment my modest SE collection.

It is an English G-bar. English GEM and Ever Ready razors are basically the same but can come in different packaging/cases for the different "classes" of people in England.

I have a nice English 1912 that is head and shoulders above my US made 1912 and it came in a swell case too :001_smile

It's not technically a "G"-bar. The G is on the side of the razor on Gem Heavy Flat Top, hence the G-Bar nickname. That being an Ever-Ready branded razor, it will not have the G, in fact I believe the circle on the sides is empty, so it can't even be called an E-Bar. You just have a Gold Heavy Flat Top. You don't see them too often, so I'd say it is quite rare. It looks to be in great condition, nice score!

Ah, that's interesting. I wondered why they were called E and G bars and what the difference was.

You're right about the circle being empty too.

Thanks

Yes, you're correct in the technical sense. But it is an identical match to the Gem version, so in all but the absence on the "G" on the handle, it is same same.
