Estate Sale score.sort of

We were at an estate sale yesterday, and I saw a bag of vintage blades. A princely sum of 10 bucks (minus 50%). So for 5 bucks, I grabbed them.

58 packages of 5 plus some loosies. A little research showed that these are from the 40's-50's. Surgical steel with a gold overtone.

I tried one this morning in a Fatboy. Pass one started a bit rough in my normal setting of 7, so I dialed it back to 3 and it gave decently comfortable shave. I have had worse with some of the modern blades. Pass two and three were very comfortable on a setting of 5.

I am anxious to see how day two is, as I normally have my most comfortable shaves on day 2 & 3 with any blade.

If those are from the 1940s and 1950s, that would mean they are not stainless steel, right? If so, just be sure to store them properly.

Had my 2nd shave this morning, a very nice shave. 1st pass pulled a bit, but #'s 2 & 3 were spot on and yielded one of the closest shaves I have had in a long time. Worth the 5 bucks...yup. What i may do is go to a 2 razor shave. Use something else for pass 1 and this blade for the other two.
Cool, something new to try.

We have uberlathers containing more than one component, so why stop there, uber-razor shaves.
