What's new

Estate Auction+95=Pipe Collection

Had $100 to spend on a new pipe! I was close to buying a peterson from an online store. The other day my wife and I went to an estate auction. The man that passed was a 6'2" 350 pound biker. He also had two degrees from MIT and traveled the world teaching about recycling radioactive metals. Well I bought a small portion of his pipe collection. I spent $95 on 7 pipes and a stand, the other five dollars was spent on pipe cleaners and organic salt. Wish I could have sat and smoked a bowl with this man. Anyways here is what I bought instead of a new peterson.

What a haul! I'm sure he is glad you are going to give his pipes a good home!

EDIT: and this was post 2900! Just a few more to go until I hit 3k!

$image.jpg All the pipes are in great shape, little cake build up, no bite marks. I don't know much about pipes so if anyone has information on these please let me know. Also a good source on cleaning would be helpful.
$image.jpg$image.jpgThis one says royal Danish made in Denmark.

I'm not seeing anything recognizable as far as makers, except maybe the little short one that resembles a LOLLO pipe made by Savinelli, I think. Regardless, that was a well spent hundo!

$image.jpg$image.jpgThis one is a small pipe, stamped lollo on it. My understanding is Savinelli made these.

This one seems to be the cream of the crop IMO. Commander should be along to fill us in on the brands.

$image.jpg$image.jpg$image.jpgThis little guy appears to be unsmoked. Will be great for a 15 minute break. It is stamped litewate deluxe made in England.

thanks Argonaut! Lol that's the only one I knew what it was! Will be great for my backpacking pipe.

Awesome haul! I purchased some pipes and tobacco from an estate, earlier this year. I like the idea of keeping a part of someone's collection intact and well cared for. I bought some tobacco from the same estate, and mostly smoke that tobacco in those pipes, out of respect for the gentleman. Anyway, congrats on the band of briars!

Very nice! I have a Savinelli Lolita that's nearly identical to the Lollo you have there. Great little pipe.
