ERN Score/ Help with more history than I can find?

Here I have an ERN Crown and Sword 1166 etched "The Crown and Sword Extra Hollow Ground" scored at an antique shop. GREAT condition almost NOS, only a little rust on the end of the tang, easily fixed. The Scales have the sword protruding out, and lots of nice jimping and spinework.

I believe this is probably an early 1900's razor? Is there any other history anyone knows about this specific one? I may be gifting it to a friend who enjoys history, and I couldn't dig too deep this time around. Any help is appreciated, and here are some pics:

Thanks, and I think this was a good buy!

Thanks, I quite enjoy this one. Can't wait to put it in line for honing after I practice on a couple others.

I don't have an exact date as to when the Crown and Sword was trademarked, but it was after 1896 and before 1921. The 1166 is a model number. again, no definite date but suspected to be 1922.
Ern was located in Wald. Wald was incorporated into Solingen in 1929. Since your razor does not have Solingen marked on it (or even Wald), then it was most likely made before 1929.
Ern is credited with introducing the first modern hollow grinding machine for razors in 1893.
Around 1920 Ern was thought to be the largest razor manufacturer in Europe.

Greybeard thanks, I had trouble finding a lot of that. Your willingness to share your knowledge on this forum is admirable.

I should post up my G Johnson 7 star when I get home from work, I think that one is a bit more rare. The spine seems thicker than 1/8"

I too have an ERN 1166 just like yours, but mine is approx. 13/16, almost 7/8"....I didn't realize they made them in different sizes, but I gues they did!

There was a second round point one at that same shop in get condition that said "try me " on the blade as well. After fixing up the couple I have I might go back. I must admit I'm jealous of the blade width on yours.

The antique shop I had been in to get a razor for a few friends who want to try straights out only had 2 razors, and ended up going 1/2 off the original pricing if I took both home that day... So what did I do? LOL of course I took both.

Here is the more interesting one, the spine is 7/32" thick (oddly enough), it is a G. Johnson 7 star with a pipe I think symbol on it. Full wedge, the blade weighs a ton. The horn scales are warped (I think they're horn) but the blade tracks fine... Should I even try to straighten them out?
