English Fern: worth the fuss?

One of the more amazing phenomena about reading these forum is that, even if you're a habitual reader, something you must have seen 100 times pops out one day as "new". (to you)

The "heightened awareness" item of the week is English Fern soap. Now, I read a lot of these forums, and am an ardent soap guy. Glycerine? I love me some QED Lime, B&B and Mama Bear Awakenings and MB Orange Orange.

Tallow? I can lather me up some MWF, and enjoy AOS lemon and Arlington (mild as it is)

But now with English Fern, the question is: Is this stuff really able to fly under my radar for all this time and really the ultimate in shaving soap? Great performer? Anything like the Pen creams? I don't know how I missed it all this time.

ps: last ? - does it smell anything like the cologne? That, to me, smells like Pine-Sol.

Great soap but can't stand the smell.

Great performance and I can't get enough of the scent--English Fern is the best smelling soap I own. :001_wub:

@ Storm: With all Penhaligon's products, you should probably get a scent sample first before committing.

FYI, I tried ordering from that page and got an email saying it would ship in 3-4 weeks. I asked them if it would be the reformulated version and indeed it is, so I canceled my order.

And that Folks, is the end of an era.....:frown:

The $65 I paid for mine seems well worth it now!:w00t:

Well worth it. I love the scent and love the shave it gives me. I really hope the reformulation is as good. It cannot be better.

I have other pricey soaps, and Pen's EF blows the competition away.

I will be happy to relieve anyone of a puck who does not enjoy the scent.

I love the English Fern EdT, but I'm not too fond of the soap's smell. It's a good performer, though. My Blenheim Bouquet gets quite a bit more use...it performs almost as well and smells quite a bit better, IMO.

Feel free to PM me. I'd be more than happy to buy or trade!

I love it. Second-best performer I've used (after MWF).

But it smells like Irish Spring. Sorry.

(I'll gladly buy a tallowy puck from anyone who isn't satisfied by his, though haha!)

Shoplondons has a limited supply. In the wooden bowl. With all the shave gear I have (not including the backup supply of MWF) I figure/hope that one puck is good for at least 10 to 15 years.
