Anyone out there with an Edwin Jagger DE86? I received mine today as a replacement head to my 89L that took a crash & the top ring above the ebony(black) part spins & rattles. Is that supposed to do that? I would think that water would get behind there and never dry out. Any thoughts?

No it shouldn't be doing that, I just received mine yesterday and that piece is firmly in place.
+1.. I had the same problem with my EJ DE86. I bought it at a local store here who carries the Edwin Jagger line. I would return it.
