Recently got my Edwin Jagger De87bl Faux Ivory Double Edge Safety Razor.

Well, I cant believe I ever used those plastic multi blade pieces of crud.

I have used my new Edwin Jagger 4 times now. No razor burn, shaves close like a barbershop straight razor, and the savings in blades is fantastic. Haven't even really cut myself either

I can sympathize. Forty Five years off and on wet shaving with everything but a DE because that's what the electric/cartridge/injector sellers assured me would provide nothing but nicks, cuts, burn, and stubble. Even used a straight (for non-jaw work when I had a beard) and a Rolls Razor instead of trying a DE. Finally, walking by Art of Shaving, just strode in and said "Gimme that". I'd done some homework on this site, so "that" was a Merkur Progress adjustable, and my oh my! Five shaves so far with the sample Merkur blade (which gets no love here), and though I was really a bit gun-shy, got a painless near-BBS my first try, and each since. So smooth that the first pass I thought I'd forgotten to load the blade. Got three blade sampler packs on the way, and of course some soap and cream samplers. Already fully brushed up.

Congratulations! The EJ DE8x series is a fantastic line of razors. Smooth, comfortable, and quite a looker. My DE86L is my current go-to razor.

I like my DE89L, have been using it for over a year.

Yesterday it was my 20th wedding anniversary and SWMBO gave me a Barley as a present... GREAT! (well, I helped her choosing it...). Can't wait to use it for the first time!

Get a Weber handle for it. You'll likely feel just as special, and have a better grip.
