Edvin Jagger BB vs. Kent BK2?

Hi,

I own an EJ BB and am pleased with it. Its my first and to-date only brush. My father recently got interested in safety razors as well and thought my EJ brush was "great" and "nicely stiff". He hasn't used a brush in 10 years and is a victim of the cartridge gillettes. The brushes he used way back were cheapos and he has always used his palm to lather up.

I'm now thinking of buying him a Merkur 34 + a brush, and I was looking at Kent BK2 since it would make a much more stylish present with the red box etc.

Does anyone have comments on comparing between the EJ BB and the Kent BK2? I gathered from previous threads that the BK4 might be too soft or sloppy given my dad liked the stiffness of the EJ...

I think it'd depend on the size of your dad's hands. The BK2's pretty small and with that Persian Vase handle, it might be a bit finnicky. Omega are definitely the brush of choice for a good proportion of forum-members and there's a wide range of handle styles and sizes from them. No doubts about the quality of the knot either. If you're looking for Badger, you might be able to get a small Rooney within your budget?
