What's new

Dumpster chair comes up good.

I was looking for a new 'office' chair for the study / computer room at home, when I happened on a newish office chair that had been thrown out and placed nxt to the dumpsster around the back of the new Ambulance station I'm now posted at. A quick look revealed all that was wrong appeared to be a 'broken' arm rest. My line manager and duty officer said I could have it. Well on closer inspection in my garage the chair is almost new with the user instructions still in the plastic bag attached under neath the seat. There's a contact number for spares and I now have a new arm rest comming for a few bucks. I quick google and the chair retails at around $425!!! thats dollars not pounds. It's an 'enigma senator'.

Anyone else had a dumpster come up trumps?

The mod forum has its own very special dumpster. I wouldn't use a chair I found in it.

Sounds like you scored big time. :thumbup1:

Needs milk and a bidet!
Is it green? I found some green ones of that chair online. It looks very comfortable!

The last company I worked for would destroy merchandise regularly. USB cables, CAT5 cables, Software, keyboards & mice, and furniture.....chairs with a broken arm, desks with a broken drawer, and lots of other stuff.

We were not allowed to take them. They had to be destroyed with a member of management present (myself and another employee). It always reminded me how little value is placed on the stuff you buy. Manufactures would rather give us credit, and have us toss them out than be sent back for repair.

I think the software was the hardest for me to toss out. $600 Microsoft office suites, Norton AVS, and McAfee, ect ect. I remember one time I had about $10,000+ in software I destroyed. Funny thing is it was probably less than 100 bucks in packaging and CD's. You don't pay for the actual CD you pay for the little piece of paper with the "key" that gives you the license.

Oscar would be proud.

NAh it's the corporate grey and black one. But it is super comfy. adjusable back and rake, adjustable arm rests, head rest with multi positions etc, etc. Possible one of the best dumpster finds I've had.

I found a homeless guy by a dumpster once. I was going to take him home but he was dressed better than I was, and I didn't want my wife to be tempted to run off with him.

Working at a dump has it's perks... Chairs, bed-headrests, textbooks, needless to say I have first pickings.. ha! Just the other day I found a good condition anatomy textbook (old, judging by the 1991 pet-appointment card in it for a dog named Fitz...) Perfect considering that I am studying for my EMT-B this year...

Now whilst certain items of 'rubbish' may indeed be good picks, let me tell you that week old fish however is not! Ahh gotta love the wet-stuff..

And one certainly cannot forgo the ability to discretely dispose of a corpse... 'How'd that get in there?!' (joking of course...everyone knows it's better to recycle em!)
