Drying a Chubby 2

After all the fuss from my previous thread, I went ahead and decided to return the CH1 as soon as it came in and ordered a CH2, which just arrived. Problem is that it doesn't fit in my current brush stand. I've seen several threads saying that you don't have to hang-dry a Chubby, but I'm still skeptical...are there any good stands out there? Or am I just being paranoid? I intend for the Chubby to be my only brush, and don't really want to cycle it out...

It may or may not dry out between shaves, but we see very few reports of moldy or mildewed brushes here. A stand will make no difference at all, either way. If possible let it dry outside the bathroom, somewhere warm and dry with good air circulation.

Omega makes a larger brush stand.

I have one but I don't have a chubby to see if it will fit in

Em's place offers large stands as well as West Coast Shaving if you feel better hanging it. Do what makes you happy, but the brush will dry fine either way. Hanging the brush might speed the process a tad, but you probably would see no noticeable difference in drying time. Your best bet really would be having a pair of brushes to alternate, although you mention you prefer just one. The Chubby's are so dense that it usually takes at least 24 hrs for a CH2 to completely dry, 48 hrs or so for a CH3.

+1 Get another brush to make sure. It is only two brushes, no harm in that.

IMHO of course

Whether you use a stand or not, the Chubby takes a long time to dry because it is so dense. Mine takes 2 days to fully dry. It's best to rotate so a brush fully dries before being used again. If you decide to use a stand, The Superior Shave sells one by Muhle that will hold a Chubby 2 or 3.

Just FYI, when I am finished with my Chubby 2,and other brushes, I wrap it in a dry towel and blot some of the water off; then I brush the towel to open up the brush. That should help it dry faster.
