Dovo vs Boker

Figured the controversy from the other thread has died down, so I thought I'd visit here for a bit:wink2:

Right now my straight razor collection has grown to its near peak...I have all intentions of stopping at 10 unless something magical comes my way.

At this point I have 3 vintage blades (W&B 6/8 wedge, A. Witte 7/16 half hollow, Giesen & Forsthoff 4/8 Adoration Axe near wedge), 4 modern day razors (Dovo 6/8 Palisander full hollow, Dovo 5/8 Natural half hollow, Boker 6/8 Silver Steel extra full hollow, and Boker 5/8 Edelweiss full hollow...a Boker 4/8 Tree Brand full hollow is on the way), and a Chinese Double Arrow Yangtze Special that looks like 5/8 and I have no idea what grind it is. All what remains is to acquire a Hart Steel 7/8...someday)

It seems to be that the vintage blades are in their own world. I can appreciate that. My question here pertains to the Dovo and Boker blades. They are both great. I'm thinking there is somewhat of a "Ford-Chevy" or "Muhle-Merkur" or even "Omega-Semogue" kind of opinion between the two marques.

Me? I prefer the Bokers. I believe the balance and fit are just that much better than the Dovos. I am NOT dissing the Dovo razor!! I own two. I REALLY like the shoulderless design of the Palisander. A similar style (maybe even a Dovo Master or Encina) may round out the collection at #10.

My quuestion is...which of the manufacturers offerings do you prefer and why??:confused1

I have a couple of nice Bokers and a few nice Dovos. All great razors. So I would have to go with Fenney-era Tally Ho.

I have 2 modern Dovos (5/8 square-point "Ebenholz" and 5/8 "Prima Klang") and 2 modern Boekers (4/8 and 5/8 Spanish-point "King Kutter"). I prefer the steel of the Boekers when honing and shaving--they feel better and take a smoother edge following the same stone and stropping sequence. That said, I tend use my Dovos more regularly for some reason.
