That is misleading!
It is the GBP that weakens.
Compare to other currencies (EUR for example) and will find out the GBP that is going down under!
this may be true
but whether you say GBP is weaker vs US$, or US$ is stronger vs GBP, both are true!
Just the effect to those who earn anything but GBP is
