What's new

does sally beauty have good stuff for shaving?

i was looking at some threads and noticed a few people go to sally beauty and get some shaving supplies.. there's a store like 5 minutes from my house.. what all do they have that is good for shaving?? shaving Creams, DE blades, aftershave lotions, basically anything that will help me with my new experience what using a safety razor and be razor burn/bump free.. I dont mind ordering things off the internet but if sallys has good products i would like to try there first..also what are some good websites to order stuff.. once again thanks guys for the help...

A lot of guys like WestCoastShaving.com for products. Personally I've ordered items off Amazon b/c I get free shipping. Haven't seen what Sally's has, but on a side note Ulta has some Art of Shaving supplies (and some less than desireable other brands). Pricing was competetive.

I buy lots of stuff at Sally. I love that place.

Master bay rum aftershave.
Pinaud Clubman aftershave.
Pinaud hair gel.
Pinaud talc.
Jeris hair tonic.
Personna DE blades.
Personna & Fromm hair shaper blades, for my shavette and Weck SE razor.

They also sell a cheap DE razor and a couple shavettes.

I buy enough stuff there to make it worth it to be a Sally Beauty Club Member.

Awesome im heading there now!! How is the DE safety razor?? Would it be a good one for a back up?? I havent gotten my gillette flair tip super speed yet should be here in a couple of days!! Was thinking of buying the sally razor and using it until mine comes in and using for a backup..?? So do they have good shaving cream?? And are the personna DE blades good for a newbie and sensitive skin guy like me!!

It all depends on the Sally's store. Different ones have different things. I have been to two of them by me and they are very different in what they stock. One of them only stocks Masters and Pinaud A/S. No other shaving stuff. The other one has a bit more, but still not near what KJ posted.

The razor is a shaving factory razor, I believe it is made by derby. I've heard it is an ok razor. For around $10 it's worth a try.

Okay well just got back from sallys they didnt have any shaving creams, and only had 1 kind of aftershave, but they did have the safety razor and derby extra and personna blades inwhich i bought the razor and the 2 different blades.. I know my gillette SS will b here soon but im too excited and couldnt wait.. So now i have 3 different brands of blades, wilkerson, derby and personna.. So which blade would be a good one for my first DE shave??

I started with Wilkinson. Nice mild blade that is very good for beginners. Some people hate em and other's love em. I always get a very good shave with them and have never cut myself.

Wilkinson's are great if you get a good one. I've found that YMMV on blade quality. Had one I threw out after one stroke (not even a full pass).

I use personna's almost daily. If you have other Sally's in the area you should check them out. As others have said the selection varies greatly from store to store.

Almost forgot, last time I saw a Marvy shaving brush. Probably similar to the VDH boar, but the handle looked nicer.

Also, if you are going for the barbershop look to your den, you can also pick up Barbicide and the Barbicide jar. They also carry the Marvy equivalents, which are less expensive.
