Do you wear sunglasses?

Personally, I find it a big hassle to carry them around, clean them, take them off indoors, put them on outdoors, store them. I'm looking at maybe purchasing the Oliver Peoples pair below because I have a gift card but wonder if they will get enough use to justify. What say you?

If you think they're a hassle, don't get them. Use your gift card on something else. If it's just for sunglasses or if that's all the place sells, you can always get them and send them to me. :thumbup1:

Personally, I can't live without my sunglasses. I've never heard of those you're talking about, but they look nice.

My eyes are way too sensitive to sun. Get them. If you hate them, put them on the bay or whatever. Or sell them here. Who knows, you may like them.

I found once I got a comfortable pair I wore them even more. I go in and out of buildings all day. Yes, it is annoying at times to take them on and off and I wear regular glasses too, but I survive.

I wear sunglasses religiously. I have a pair in each vehicle and a pair in my office. I typically just leave them in the car and suffer through the short walk into/out of a building but if I'm going to be out for a long period of time or when driving I always wear them.

I wore glasses for about 40 years, and Photo Grays for the last 25. I had Lasik surgery last summer and now wear mirror-finish shooting glasses for shades. 1, because they do a really good job of blocking our bright eastern Oregon sun, and 2, they look so dang cool!!!

So yes, I wear sunglasses a lot...

Do you worry that you will lose them or break them?

Mine have a lifetime warranty if I break them. But, no, I keep them in a case when not wearing them.

Losing them. I have. And, they make more everyday. They're just sunglasses, not the end of the world.

I wear sunglasses everyday. Too much exposure to UV can show signs of premature aging, not to mention cause numerous eye problems such as cataracts. Sunglasses should at least be worn if you are in the sun long enough to get a tan or sunburn.

However, sunglasses also help prevent accidents. They cut down on glare caused by snow, water, and car windshields, especially polarized versions. This reduction in glare helps the wearer identify hazardous situations more clearly.

Last but certainly not least, sunglasses just look cool!

As far as the carrying them around thing... if you make it a point to incorporate the sunglasses into your routine for leaving the house... keys, wallet etc, it just becomes second nature.

The main thing with cleaning is just never ever ever use your shirt, the fibers are too coarse and you might have some sand or something else on it that can scratch the lens. With what you pay for a pair of Oliver Peoples sunglasses they should come with a micro fiber cloth and if they don't, you can go pick up a nice cloth/spray/screwdriver kit from any sunglass hut for 10 bucks.

So yea, they can be sort of a pain to clean and carry, but in my opinion the benefits outweigh these minor inconveniences.

Actually, I wear them while driving every day, even when it is cloudy.

I live in Southern California where sun is INTENSE much of the time.

There is nothing good about exposing your eyes to UV rays from the sun.

There are often a hassle indeed if you're in and out of outside a lot because the nicer ones not so easy to stash. There are also a lot of days of a certain type of "overcast" out here we call "June gloom" which honestly hurts my eyes. I couldn't function outside without sunglasses.

Kouros: do I recall you're in Phoenix area?

I wear mine when driving and playing softball.

at the same time? :lol::lol:

seriously I had lasix also and wear them religiously as well anytime I am out (even cloudy/rainy days- there IS still enough UV to cause porblems). I also found a great way to keep up with them...a lanyard :001_smile

the OTHER guy from Goldsboro knows his stuff!!!

Wait, there can be only one!

You'd struggle in the Australian sun without sunglasses. I've got three main pairs. I've got a set of black frame Rayban Wayfarers. I've got a pair that look like Rayban Wayfarers with tortoiseshell frames that I picked up on holiday in a second hand shop in Paris a couple of years ago and I've got a modern metal framed pair of RayBans that I keep in the car and use when I'm driving.

I got something for Bollé... I had a pair of Aviator blue sunglasses. I killed them using a cleaning product that had amonia on the lenses.

I got a new pair of Catus Green Aviator. Love my Aviator! When they die, I'll be sad. Can't go out without them. They're great.
