Do you use an ice cube in your shave routine?

Hope all is well with U and your families. I have been using the ice cube rub in my shaving routine for about 5 years. Immediately after my shave (face and dome), I perform a cold water rinse and an ice cube rub (until it melts) on the face & dome. Then towel dry face and dome, apply witch hazel (from the fridge), and I'm good to go.

So... how 'bout U? Do you use an ice cube in your shave routine? If so... let us know; if not try it out. The ice cube rub decreases razor burns, helps ya stay smoother longer, and it feels great.

great idea! I'm going to try this some day. My water runs quite cold and I usually splash it quite liberally after a shave, but an ice cube is even better.

Good idea. I'll be sure to try that after tomorrow's shave.

In the warmer months, my "cold" water comes out a bit warm. So I keep a cup with some ice cubes next to the sink. I run a bit of water, add the ice cubes, and then go ahead with my last rinse. Its annoying, and one of many on my list of "reasons I hate summer"...

The Cool Down for me is......

Brush a last lather to my entire face and neck.

Pull out the damp towel sitting in the freezer

Clean up the sink, razor, shave mug, wipe down the cream tube

Rinse face with cold water

Towel off with damp cold towel

Dry

and then rinse the frozen towel with some cold water, squeeze, apply to face.

Dry

I routinely use an ice cube if I'm not pressed for time: warm water rinse and then an ice cube, followed by alum block (purchased at a local Indian grocery store; sometimes rinsed off after a minute or so, sometimes not), and then generic WH, sometimes followed by a dab of the cheap home-mixed oils I keep in recycled jars (such as sweet almond, grapeseed, or safflower, together with a bit of castor oil, essential oils, and a bit of lanolin and glycerin). I live in South Florida, so the only cold air I have to deal with is air conditioning.
