I do one pass occasionally. This is in emergencies using the one can of gel I still own and whilst I'm showering. This way I can get done in less than 5 minutes and it seems to get the worst of the stubble off. But on those days I am keen to get home and shave again properly in the evening.
If I'm really in a time crunch and I can't skip the shave altogether, I'll take out my Trac II and do one pass, plus touch ups, and I can usually get a socially acceptable shave (or better). With a DE, 2 passes plus touch ups is really a minimum for me.
Nope. I like a 3 pass shave. I make sure I allow the time for a nice, relaxing shave. If I'm going to be rushed for time, or think I may, I'll shave the night before.
Life too short for abbreviated shaves. If I sleep late or am otherwise behind schedule, I'll make the shower mega quick, skip breakfast or wait til I get to work for that first cup of Joe. However difficult or harsh some of these sacrifices sound, I'll gladly make them in the interest of a proper shave. If I'm really pressed for time, I'll do a two pass shave but as a rule, 3 or 4 pass shaves are the norm.
Yeah, I'm trying to find a way to pull off Mantic's 10-minute wet-shave from his video on YouTube. I just achieved BBS on my 4th wet-shave ever this evening and did it in about 30 minutes. I would like to get down to the 15-20 minute mark.
Nope. If I'm late I'm late and will not do silly stuff to make up time. My shave takes only 10 minutes for 4 passes. I don't drive like a maniac on the way to work or where I'm going. I do keep people informed by calling ahead if I'm going to a meeting. On the other hand I'm a fanatic about being on time. If I'm staying at a Hotel I arrange for a wake up call . . . set the alarm that comes with the room and set the alarm on my cell phone. Typically I wake up 5 minutes before the noise starts.
One pass? My beard is much to heavy for that. And I can't go ATG on my first pass without trying to rip the skin from under my beard
I can do a 3 pass with touchups in about 10 minutes, sometimes 8 if I rush. With enough practice and following the most efficient and effective techniques found here on B&B I think anyone can enjoy a DFS or even BBS in 10 minutes.
That, comming from me, is saying a lot. I didn't even get down to 10 minute shaves with a Quattro, Mach 3, or Sensor Excel. And I never even bothered prepping my beard during my cartridge days. So all that time was dedicated to getting that dull series of blades to actually do something. A lot of the time was spent trying to unclog all the hair in those cartridges. Grrrr.
With a DE? No. I honestly look worse with a one pass shave then I do just not shaving at all. The extreme exception might be if it's been several days and i have a meeting or something.
For me 3 pass is the minimum DE shave to leave the house acceptable looking. 2 passes might do it for just a very casual day.
If I have to shave in a hurry I go to the sensor or trac II, I can do 2-3 passes with these in no time and couldn't cut myself if I tried.
I can get away with 2 passes on my DE, but if I've left that little time I cant manage that much, I'd normally skip it all together.
If I had to shave in a real pinch, I'd be pulling out my Sensor Excel.
