The title tells it all I guess. The GEM Damaskeene (pre 1919) is for me one of the best shavers made by man, Do their British cousins come close or not?
Do the British even come close to the Great GEM Damaskeene?

I've come to believe the Ever-Ready Streamline is just as good as the Damaskeene, something I never thought I'd say...

Hear hear Tom. Well I do have a Streamliner and love it to death. The GEM Cutlery Co was pretty much a SE RAD killer for me to be honest. As the Streamliner came in the 30´s I presume that the Brits came nowhere their to American counterparts in the late teens or early 20`s..?
I have an English 1912 and a Streamline.
Both are fantastic but my 1924 is tops for me. It just might be a spectacular assembly but every time I use it I wonder why I keep the others around

Sorry, what I meant intentionally was if the Brits were even close- or better- in manufacturing the great U.S pre GEM 1919 Damaskeene in the teens of the century?

So the Brits (Ever-Ready) did not put out a counterpart to the pre 1919 Damaskeene in the late teens of the 20th century?

No, they didn't. Pre-1919 Gem was selling the 1912 Damaskeene and Ever-Ready was selling what we call the 1914. Ever-Ready didn't come out with their version of the 1912 until around 1930, which they called the Improved Safety Razor. I don't believe the 1914 ER razors were ever made at the British plant, at least I don't recall seeing any.

Thanks HoosierTrooper. Reading that answer is a bit of a relief I guess. (I don´t need to be on the look out for yet another razor).
Any favs from the Ever-Ready stable that sticks out when compared to the yankee GEM razors..? (With the exception from the Streamline of course)

I like the 1914 Ever-Ready. A lot. A whole lot. Not a real big fan of the 1924 though.
Please pity the n00b and occasionally post a pic of aforementioned SE's.....
