Dirty Bird Scuttle PIF

Hello Gentlemen,

I have been in discussion with CaptainK in regards to the PIF he wanted to start which would pass a scuttle from member to member so that all those interested in trying a scuttle may do so. After discussions with him and acquiring a scuttle, we have worked out the rules for this PIF.

This is the OFFICIAL SIGN UP and DISCUSSION THREAD for the Scuttle PIF.

Rules:

1. You get to keep the scuttle for 5-7 days, to try it out, practice a little and experience it before shipping to the next member on the list.

2. You must ship the scuttle with tracking and the tracking number must be posted on this thread as soon as possible. It's your money so UPS, FEDEX, or USPS is up to you. What is important is the safe delivery of a piece of pottery. Just provide tracking.

3. You must have a minimum post count of 75. No minimum amount of time as a member. We want this to be available to as many as possible, new and old, but want active members.

4. Sign up is open until June 30, 2010.

5. List order is established by the order you post to this thread. However, you must PM me your email and phone number to be officially listed. I will reply to you that I received it.

6. For shipping purposes, we're keeping this CONUS for now.

My next post will show the Scuttle and a little info about it.

THANK YOU CaptainK for getting this started!

OK, gentlemen.

To help us in our venture, Julie, at Dirty Bird Pottery is sending me a scuttle for us to try out. The one we are receiving is a 1.5 Scuttle, which is 1.5 times the size of her original. She custom makes these to order but had this one on the shelf as a "Second". It has a small scuff on the bottom from an air bubble in the clay and she didn't want to sell it to a customer as it does not meet her level of quality. However, it is 100% functionally sound and a perfect candidate for this PIF. She smoothed out the edges of the air bubble and has it all ready for us.

With a special thank you to Julie, and without further wait, here is the scuttle we will be trying out:

THANK YOU CaptainK for getting this started!
And, and big thank you goes to rosborne for: 1) Obtaining the scuttle we'll all be enjoying, and 2) volunteering to administer this PIF. Definitely a two thumbs up!

Official entry PM coming right after this. Thanks again!

Gentlemen,

Please don't overlook this requirement!

Looks like we're off to a good start! No need to thank me for getting this rolling. CaptainK was the one that really brought the idea to everyones attention and we'd all still be talking about how cool it would be rather than actually launching the PIF if it wasn't for Julie providing us a beautiful scuttle. And to be honest, this is a little self serving as I really want to try a scuttle and even more, I wanted to try a Dirty Bird Scuttle.

So, here's the plan so far. By the way, I generally make stuff up as I go. The scuttle should ship to me from Julie Monday or Tuesday. Once I receive it I'll go ahead and give it a try. Sometime between when I receive it and when I ship it out, I will post a list of names so everyone knows the order. This will all happen well before the June 30th cut off date. In the end, I'll have it come full circle to me and we can decide what to do with it then whether its start a new rotation or or we have a drawing among the members who tried it and liked it and it becomes theres. We'll deal with that then. That could be a year from now for all we know.

I hope everyones as pumped as I am about this. I can't wait to give it a try. If this thing goes as long a I think it will, the gents in the fall and winter will really appreciate the warm lather!

As a current scuttle owner I'll bow out of this. However, I definitely wanted to say Kudos to CaptainK for a great idea and a big thanks rosborne for organizing.

Good stuff guys!

Please count me in. I don't want to spam b&b to get to the required post count as that would be a big downer, but I'd love to try a scuttle before I drop some money on it. Thanks

Good job guys. With the help of Bill , the local potter, we're at the tail end of our Australian Brotherhood of the Travelling GSL Brush Scuttle tour.

It's given the guys who have never used a brush scuttle a chance to use one and to see if it's for them.

It's quite a bit of money ( especially with shipping ) to buy a scuttle just to find you don't like it.

We've had mixed reactions but most are either indifferent or love it.

Winters just started here, so the guys at the tail end are seeing the full benefit of toasty warm lather.

Enjoy guys !!!!
