Difference between R41 and R101

Basically, is the R101 an R41 with a cheaper handle or is there some other difference? Love my R41 and wanted to see what else Mühle offered.

I had the same question the other day while shopping for an R41. The dimensions listed on Muhle's product pages for the R41 and the R101 don't match, so they seem like different razors.

However, both pages use the same photo for the detail shot of the head.

So, I'm going with the R41. As you said, the resin handle on the R101 gives an impression of cheapness.

I have both the standard handle & the black resin handle. In use, I can feel very little, if any, difference in weight between the two handles. The resin handle provides a lots more grip than the very shallow knurled metal one. Personally, I think the black resin handle looks more classy than the metal one, but YMMV. I have seen comments that the resin handle picks up scratches, but I have not experienced this myself, possibly as I have stored the razor in one of the Muhle razor holders that hold the razor upside down via its chromed neck.

Interesting. Are the heads exchangeable? I may pick up the closed comb variety and give that a try.

Thanks everybody for the replies! I know this has been asked before but I couldn't really find a discussion that satisfied me.

Thanks for the comparison, Sceptic Pencil. The product pages for the R41 and R101 show that they have the same weight (64g), so it really comes down to the handle. I would have thought the resin handle would be more slippery, but your experience shows the opposite!

So, I'm going to have to consider the R101 again. Choices, choices...

Totally interchangeable. The handles will even interchange with a 1945 ball-end Gold Tech.

R101 is 3 grams lighter.
That's interesting because Muhle's product pages for the R41 and R101 say that they both weigh 64g. Has anybody who owned both razors actually weighed them on the same scale?

p.s. Here are screenshots from the respective Muhle webpages (R41 on left, R101 on right) showing the same weight:
