What's new

Didn't really want it but put in a low ball and won it.....

Further to my questions about a 3/8 straight here are the pictures of the auction. Unfortunately (or not as I've not yet tried it) I won with a huge bid of EUR10.00 (plus EUR4.70 p&p so a grand total of about 18 USD). I had already purchased another 3/8 this week so wasn't too fussed about winning this one, still I did so what do you guys think/make of it?

It can be used to shave with, although it is more suited for trimming and detailed work, gotta be careful however since the blade is so narrow.

At that price you can't go wrong. As said by others, a 3/8 takes a little more concentration to use then a wider blade.

I saw that and I was tempted to bid but it sort of defeats the purpose of me selling of a large number of razors to reduce the collection. Good to see you picked it up for a great price.

Ha! I have actually filled in the bidding block on a few and realized I was doing it on Auto-Pilot. I know your feeling. I went to an antique store yesterday and bought a 5/8 that needs restoring a little - just to have a project. Then brought it home and threw it in the box with the other four or five. Ridiculous.

Yeah, well I was actually bidding on a few razors so I can get some to restore & hone up in the hope of selling some of em to fund my new and increasingly expensive shaving passion. I did the old blanket bombing bid routine and won a couple for fair prices but realized that I didn't really want this one anymore, still it's a good price for what looks like a new razor and it was a relist, saw that they halved the price so I pretty much got a bargain.
Who knows, if I like it I may keep it, otherwise expect it to be appearing on an auction site near you in a couple of weeks!

My 4/8 shaved me just fine this morning. Gotta be careful stropping...easy to roll the edge, since there is such little lever arm to feel it.

I actually find 3/8" dead easy to shave with. Stropping on the other hand is a bit more challenging than wider blades... and if you have any kind of a beard You're either gonna be rinsing every few mm, or wads of lather+hair will be falling all over your counter, 3/8" don't hold much. If you're a daily shaver though, goddamn you can get fast with one of those little buggers. I can do a pass with a 3/8" in under a minute. Full shave (not counting brush soak) is about a 4-5min affair. They are just so damn easy to maneuver. GREAT for getting the upper lip.

Thanks Ian, that's good to know - probably my biggest issue is correctly shaving my upper lip, those big blades dont mix well with my big nose!
