What's new

Did you guys miss this Hoffritz

Hi Guys,

I've been buying to add to my collection of vintage Slants.
I got a new old stock Coles recently, then a Merkur slim, then a vintage Merkur HD Slant and I was looking for a Hoffritz.

One went on Ebay last week for about $70 so I disn't get that one, then this one came up with a Buy It Now of only $25 - of course I bagged it.

It had been there for a few days so I wondered if you all missed this one? Item No. 330330350048

As a reminder.

Links to items for "Buy It Knows" or actions that have ended on ebay are allowed. Only live auction links are not.

I'd say that's a pretty good deal. Those usually go for much more.
BINs are pretty much about being on the 'bay at the right time...

Nice one!

I wouldn't trade mine for anything, love it! The built for those razors are just amazing! Mine is light but gets the job done in no time!

Ah, now you've started something!

I've just noticed that your is an open comb. My current ones are all with bar type guard. Now I can look for a whole lot more Slants!

Best Wishes

Hi Ray,

Yes, I made sure it was bagged before I made it public knowledge!

Seriously thought I can understand the ruling about live auctions - it would cause alsorts of bunfights if live auctions were allowed to be linked.

Thanks Ray,

I'll tell you better once it arrives, but it looks like it has original blades in the pack - so possibly seen little use. :001_smile

Beautiful razor. I'd love to have one. Now I have something new to track down, before I just go order a Merkur 11C.

Thanks, guys.

EDIT: Actually, this looks EXACTLY like the Merkur 11C. Is that what it is, rebranded for Hoffritz?

I think Hoffritz was bought or renamed to Merkur. However, my limited experience with Merkur suggest that Hoffritz had a better build. That said, I am not saying that Merkur are bad, the build is just not the same.

Just managed to get another one last week too - new old stock - but when it arrived it has a tiny crack at the top of the handle. Real shame, otherwise it is mint.

This cracking must have been common with a lot of razors (gillette Old Types) and common on vintage Merkur, Coles and Hoffritz too.

Rather than the head being a press fit into the handle tube it would have been better if thwey just soldered it in there.

Nice snag, and yeah, I missed it 'cause it was in the wrong category!!!

I spend so much time crusing ebay trying to find mislabled stuff that nobody else will notice

(appart from bumfights, live link are also banned to stop people promoting their own sales.)
