Did I go too far honing?

I just couldn't get it to hold an edge, so I kept trying and this happened!!!

Seriously, though. I got this razor in "excellent condition" off the bay, primarily for the tang stamp. Someone had obviously taken a grinder to smooth out the edge, and ruined the temper as well as the geometry. I saw another thread suggesting a keychain....

Since I got the razor for the stamp, and the blade was ruined, why not? The tail is a little long for my ring, and the pivot hole is too small, so it's stuck in the skinny part of the ring, but I'm still happy :p

Yes, the keychain idea is quite unusual and interesting. You might be able to drill out the pivot hole a bit.

First of all, it wasn't my idea, I think I stole it from Seraphim??? Anyway, it was a prolific regular :)

Worked great in my pocket all day!

The scales have a crack at the (lead) wedge. Other than that they're in decent condition. I'm thinking about using some CA on the crack & putting them on a wedge I've got with horribly bent scales. I haven't quite decided, there's some really gorgeous honey horn scale material on the bay. First I have to figure out how to hone that bad boy.
